Vrancea's head is off
Marian Oprisan, head of the district council in Vrancea, was sacked after reigning for 14 years. 22 councilors from the Democrat Party, the National Liberal Party, the Conservative Party and the New Generation Party decided to do away with the baron. The local members of the Social-Democrat Party were absent from meeting.

Romanian Liberals are angrier than ever with President Basescu and their Democrat "allies" and most leaders are thinking about quitting. Dan Motreanu, a general secretary of the PNL (National Liberal Party), has recently stated it. Bucharest Court of Appeal dismissed yesterday Teodor Atanasiu's solicitation to suspend the presidential decree by means of which he had been suspended as a Romanian defense minister. Judges' decision may be appealed against in 5 days' time.
