Rightful owner gets Bran Castle back
Bran Castle was restituted to its rightful owner, Dominic Habsburg, nephew of Queen Maria and son of Princess Ileana. Narcis Dorin Ion, director of the Bran Museum, signed the decision yesterday. Bran Castle, dating back to 1377, is one of the main tourism destinations in Romania, especially due to the Dracula myth. Bram Stoker's novel Dracula contributed a lot to its fame. (...)

ZIUA saves the Cathedral
The ZIUA campaign to save St. Joseph Cathedral in Bucharest has been successful: general mayor of Bucharest Adriean Videanu announced yesterday that the solution suggested by Ioan Robu, Archbishop of the Catholic Church, could put an end to the dispute on the plan to erect a building next to the Cathedral. Videanu mentioned it was about getting a different piece of land belonging to the church on Coposu Avenue, which should host the much controversial Millenium Building.

PM Tariceanu tackles bird flu
Romanian PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu chaired yesterday meeting of the Central Anti-epizootic Committee and decided on several measures, says Executive spokeswoman Oana Marinescu.
As far as households involved in the spreading of the virus are concerned, they decided to intensify checks and take more samples. Coalition partners might decide to renegotiate their Protocol. The Office for International Communication and Human Rights asked Romanian President Traian Basescu yesterday not to promulgate the project meant to modify Law 112/ 1995 on the buildings abusively confiscated under the communist era.
