POLITICS IN BRIEF
Cabinet ministers to be replaced in June
Tariceanu's Cabinet might go through staff changes after the PD (the Democrat Party) National Convention due in late June, say parliamentary sources. This is despite the fact that PNL (the National Liberal Party) does not seem willing to agree to this initiative. Bad administration of the flood crisis and the healthcare system crisis as well will be some of the main reasons for asking Prime minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu to consent to replace ministers. Last week Romanian President Traian Basescu criticized the very Prime Minister for not coordinating himself operations meant to end flood crisis. One of the officials who might be replaced is Karoly Borbely, Chair of the National Agency for Youth. He is reproached for having dissolved the National Agency for School Tourism. The same sources claim that Defense Minister Teodor Atanasiu might be replaced by Democrat Vice president Sorin Frunzaverde. (M.T.)
