-- The Rosia Montana mining project coordinated by the Rosia Montana Gold Corporation is deadlocked till 2009, because Romanian authorities aren't going to make a decision this year. This is the opinion expressed by Bogdan Gabudeanu, a president of the National Mineral Resource Agency.
It is to be reminded that the Romanian Ministry of Environment stopped the authorization process in the project for an undefined time because the urbanism certificate the investor had fetched was suspended in legal terms. According to Gabudeanu, even if the project gets permission, the investment may be initiated only after updating the license, meaning up to 6 months. He argues: "If the project passes, the investor must come up with new documents on quantities, deadlines and updated feasibility survey. Since thousands of documents must be analyzed, I think it will take at least 5-6 months to release a new license." (...) (G.M.)
