The President of Romania Traian Basescu decided yesterday to ask for a revision of the modification on the referendum law, which led to juridical disputes. It is about the amendment authored by Social Democrat Mihai Nicolicea, according to which the election of MEPs and a referendum may not take place the same day.
Some MPs claim the President is breaking the Constitution by his request that one law should be revised a second time, whereas the President argues it is actually a new law. The Legislative Council is to decide today if the President promulgated the law at stake in due time.
The Romanian PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu announced nevertheless that both the Euro-elections and the referendum would take place on November 24, start and finish at the same. (...) (A.H.)
