The Romanian President's youngest daughter announced intention to run as candidate in the 2008 legislative elections. While in Deva last weekend, Elena Basescu mentioned: "I will probably run for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies and represent the Youth Organization of the Democrat Party in Bucharest. Until the next parliamentary elections are held in Romania, I will be supporting the women in the Democrat Party who run on eligible positions for the Parliament of Europe."
The President's daughter said she wasn't running in the election of MEPs because of her wish to build a political career in the country. For the time being, she is dreaming about becoming a general secretary of the Youth Organization in the Democrat Party and so far she has got no opponent for competition. (A.I.)
