DNA (National Department against Corruption, within the Ministry of Justice) is investigating 140 cases of possible frauds concerning the European Community funds. This would represent twice more irregularities than the 70 the anti-fraud structures in Romania has reported to European Anti-fraud Office (OLAF). ZIUA daily presented, on July 10, Romania's 2006 report on the cases of possible frauds from the community funds. This report places us, at that time, on top by far as regards the number of cases, and as compared to the other acceding countries. And if less that a fortnight ago we were just about to dethrone the states already members of the European Union as well (only Italy was in front of us, with one case), we now surely hold the absolute supremacy among Europe's thieves.
