Liberal senator Varujan Vosganian wants to have a private meeting with the President of Romania Traian Basescu to talk about the initial choice for himself to become an EU Commissioner. Here is what Vosganian said last Saturday: "I have some messages to give him from Mr. Manuel Barroso." He added he could only deliver them in a private meeting.
Vorganian said he had managed to get along well with Barroso up to the minute when there emerged the rumor that he had collaborated with the ex Securitate (Communist Secret Service in Romania). He commented: "It was a mess, a villain thing plotted by some people who will come out and who had to prevent a person with a clear political profile from reaching Brussels and changing the relations among the political forces in Romania. They had to stop me." (D.I.)
