The President of Romania Traian Basescu said yesterday that Varujan Vosganian had never collaborated with the ex Securitate (Communist Secret Service in Romania) and that there was no record on such collaboration. The President claimed: "I asked the services both before and after that press article was published if there was a record of Vosganian as Securitate collaborator. I can guarantee you there isn't. The information emerged after the talk with Barroso and it has practically had no influence."
The President opined there was no confrontation of political parties, since the PM had been demanded to choose a candidate to become an EU commissioner. (...) (A.H.)
