Yesterday the Civic Media Association provided the CNSAS (National Council for Research on the Communist Secret Service Archive) with the second list of Romanian journalists to be checked on their collaboration with the ex Securitate (Communist Secret Service). The list is part of the "Clean Voices" campaign and it includes the names of several categories of journalists, politicians-journalists like Adrian Nastase included. Before finishing the list, Civic Media had received from the New York Magazin, a Romanian publication in the US, the request to add some Romanian journalists in the US. (...)
Journalist Victor Roncea, coordinator of the "Clean Voices" campaign, pleaded for the need to do some tidy up in the Romanian press and asked journalists on the list to send their personal information to the CNSAS so that progress would be made fast. As for the suspects, which historian Stejarel Olaru invoked too, Roncea opined they should denounce themselves. He claimed in Romania there were about 1,000 important journalists whose past had to be searched. (...)
