The Office for International Communication and Human Rights asked Romanian President Traian Basescu yesterday not to promulgate the project meant to modify Law 112/ 1995 on the buildings abusively confiscated under the communist era. The president of the Office explained in press release that there was need to suspend the sale of lands annexed to the respective houses until ongoing lawsuits and restitution were over. The Office claims that such attitude would otherwise mean breaking of fundamental human rights. In the press release it is also mentioned: "We believe this matter needs to be subject to public debate. This is why we are kindly asking you not to promulgate this legislative initiative, which would get various responses and trouble the civil circuit."
